Scanning
Our scanning services provide all your needs from scanning your personal film onto CD's for your home use up to scanned outputs for your company for billboard sized commercial prints. Scanning has for the most part replaced the optical copywork procedures that were used in the past. With digital scanning procedures it's now possible to correct errors in original images, to manipulate or retouch images for other needs, to make composites of many images and text materials, and to restore images to their former beauty. Scanning is ideal for cataloging purposes of old negatives, transparecies, and photographs. And, of course, scanning is required for e-mailing and web use of your images. At Kula Photo we offer 3 basic levels of scanning for our clients:

LOW-RES scans (300 dpi @ 4x6) - These scans are ideal for internet use and print proofing up to 5x7 or for file purposes.

MID-RES scans (300 dpi @ 10x15) - These scans can be used for high quality printing up to 16x20 in size.

HI-RES scans - These scans are generally 300 dpi at the required output size needed. These scans are only required for print outputs above 16x20.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The LO - MID - HI resolution nomenclature on our different levels of scanning does not refer to the quality of the scan but rather its output usage. A low res scan is not a low quality scan and, in many instances, can be used over the mid and hi res scans saving you job costs.
If you require higher resolution scans than listed above or have specific scanning needs please contact us for a price quote on your particular requirements. We also offer quantity discounts for large volume scanning of either film or prints. Call or email us.
Uncut Roll Film Scanning
Uncut roll film, either processed by us or supplied by you, can also be scanned to CD at considerable savings to you. If you are unsure whether you will require your film scanned to CD when intially having our lab process and proof them, you may request that the film remain uncut for future scanning possibilities. We offer a LOW-RES scan of roll film, which is comparable to the above low-res scanning and sized at 300 dpi @ 4x6, and a HI-RES scan of roll film, and sized at 300dpi @ 10x15.
Duplicate CD's and DVD's
Duplicate CD's or DVD's of any of the above scans or from your own various electronic media can be created by us to suit your needs and are priced by the amount of information that is burned per CD or DVD. For large quantity CD or DVD copies please contact us for a price quote.
All digital copywork requires intial scanning of the material to be copied. These items may be film negatives or transparencies of any size, x-rays or MRI's, and all forms of flat copy including photographs, printed matter, and original artwork. After the intial scan the image can then be retouched, restored, combined with other scans for composites, or manipulated in many ways. Perhaps you require 35mm slides from your electronic files. All of these services are available at our lab. Below you will find those services listed with their costs. Digital Restoration-Manipulation-Retouching
With this service old, faded, and damaged images from any source can be restored to their former look. Colors can be changed or enhanced. Additions or deletions to your images can be accomplished. Images from damaged negatives or transparencies can be restored. Imperfections in portraits can be corrected. All through the magic of our digital image manipulation service. The cost of this service is charged by computer time to accomplish the repairs or changes to your images that you require. This charge is priced at $30.00 per 1/2 hour computer time. Using this service we can produce for you multiple images and type in one picture as shown in the above samples. It's ideal for modeling composites, music publicity photos, theaterical headshots, party invitations, etc. This service is also useful to businesses for creating point of purchace material or trade show displays. All we require is your images and logos and a rough outline of how your images and text should look on the final print. We will composite this material and create a proof for you to approve before making the final print. The set up charge for compositing is priced at 30.00 per half hour computer time. Multiple photos, text, and graphics that need to be combined into one image will be priced per job. Please contact us and will be glad to give you a price quote for your particular requirements. Print to Print
Print to Print is a special scanning service that provides not only the scan of your flat copy but also a print output in one package price. It's ideal for making copies of your photos for friends and family members. Available in outputs up to 10"x15" and either on glossy or matte lustre stock, this system allows you to affordably repair damaged or color shifted prints to their original condition. You may also include a CD with the produced image for future use for only an additional $2.25 per order. See the table below for a price structure for this service.

35mm slides from electronic media are priced 9.50 each image. Multiples of the same image are priced at 2.00 after the first image price. There is a $25.00 minimum charge on all copy slide orders.
